Stretch Mark Minimizers

  • Topic Info:Stretch marks are one of the most difficult things to get rid of.

But, after rapid weight gain, growth spurts, or pregnancy, it's not surprising that you'd want to get rid of the embarrassing marks left behind on your body.

Stretch marks originate in the middle layer of your skin, the dermis, which supports your skins outer surface, the epidermis. This is why they are easily spotted on your arms, legs, stomach and back.

The causes of stretch marks may seem obvious, but there are other factors that can contribute. For instance, stretch marks are genetic, which means if your mother had them during pregnancy, you are likely to have them too. Hormones at the last stage of your pregnancy can also play a role.

Getting rid of stretch marks can be a challenge, especially when there are so many myths and products promising to do so. Will they ever go away?

Licensed Esthetician and founder of Truth In Beauty Consulting, Meredith Foster shares ways to minimize stretch marks without burning a hole in your pocket.
