What is the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA)?

There has been many acusations that supplements aren't regulated, and Dr. Mike wants to clear this up for you, because it's simply not true. DSHEA of 1994 is a statue of the U.S. Federal legislation that defines and regulates dietary supplements.

DSHEA defined what a dietary supplement does. It lays out safety rules, which allows the FDA to take a supplement off shelves by randomly testing products to make sure what the labels claim are in fact true. It also makes sure that there's research to support claims made on certain products, and that companies are adhering to good manufacturing practices.
