Relationships: Does Distance Make the Heart Grow Fonder?

Relationships: Does Distance Make the Heart Grow Fonder?
A study found that people in long-distance relationships share personal thoughts and feelings with their partners more often than those in geographically close relationships. The study also found an increased feeling of excitement and intimacy. The research argues that distance truly does make the heart grow fonder.

Couples do not get to see each other as often, so their "infatuation stage" and excitement to see each other lasts longer.

The study also found that women in long distance relationships were more likely to share meaningful thoughts and feelings than those who were not. They also tended to idealize their partners' behaviors, leading to a greater sense of intimacy.

On paper, long distance relationships look great, since they eliminate some of the day-to-day annoyances you share with your partner. A significant geographical distance forces you to communicate more and showcase the best of yourself.

In longevity though, long distance coupling is questionable.

Along those lines, should couples in close proximity emulate couples in long distance relationships more often and give each other some space?

Relationship and Love Coach, Rinatta Paries, explains the advantages and disadvantage of long-distance relationships.
