With over 44 million people in the role of caregiver to a child or elderly parent, sometimes both at the same time, "caregiver burnout" is on the rise in the United States. One in 10 caregivers report that the caregiving role has caused them major health problems including stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression (Family Caregiver Alliance). 

Caregiver burnout is the phrase commonly used to refer to a person who is looking after a loved one at home, usually full-time, but who finds herself struggling. They look after their loved ones due to some form of physical or mental disability. During the process, the caregiver may start to neglect herself and her own health.
