Demorest Photo 2Dr. Rebecca A. Demorest is a pediatric and young adult sports medicine specialist who practices in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is one of only 200 pediatricians across the county who is board certified in both pediatrics and sports medicine. She is an elected member of the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness. She is a team doctor for the US Rowing team and takes care of many local high schools and clubs. Her interests include pediatric and young adults sports medicine injuries, concussion management and baseball, gymnastic and rowing injuries.

Baseball and softball are extremely popular among America's youth. Injuries are common because of the large number of athletes participating.

While most injuries are acute, there are specific overuse injuries that commonly affect young ball players. Most of these injuries can be prevented.
