Trimming the Fat: Getting Rid of Excess
Look around the room that you're in right now, whether it's your kitchen, bedroom or office. Could you pick out five or 10 things you simply don't need?

Most people today collect too much "stuff."

How does all of this clutter impact your health and well-being?

When there is physical clutter all over the place, and it greets you as soon as you walk in the door, your mind immediately also gets overfilled. You can't concentrate and you may become quickly overwhelmed. If it gets to an extreme point, such as a hoarding situation, your physical health is also at risk.

Special guest, Cornell Thomas, recently did a de-cluttering exercise on his closet, and ended up eliminating seven bags of clothing. Not only did he feel a sense of ease, but he also got that "warm fuzzy" feeling from donating to a charitable cause.

What are some other benefits of "trimming the fat" in your life?

When you get rid of "things" (and that's just what they are, things), you're opening up the energy for new opportunities to come in.

If you're one of those people who just can't seem to get rid of the excess in your life, concentrate on what's really important and identify what's NOT important. Too much clutter takes away from the people and goals that truly matter in your life.

Even the way you speak and write can benefit from trimming the fat. There is a power in pauses. Don't be afraid to limit your words to increase their power.

Tune in as Thomas joins Andrea and Lisa to share more about the benefits of getting rid of excess, as well as easy ways you can work towards simplifying your own life.
