EP 1035B - Colorectal Cancer in Young Adults

The recent death of famous and beloved actor Chadwick Boseman put more spotlight on colorectal cancer in young adults. Researchers are studying what is at the root of the disturbing trend, but it is still under review.

In the meantime, it’s important for young adults to be aware that colorectal cancer incidence is increasing in young adults, to know what symptoms may need to be investigated, and to be an advocate for themselves if they suspect something is wrong with their health.

Colorectal cancer diagnoses have been rapidly increasing in younger individuals, even those in their 20s and 30s. While there's no clear answer as to why this is occurring, there are multiple factors to weigh.

Dr. David Liska joins us in this episode to discuss these considerations and how Cleveland Clinic is treating younger patients with this disease. He is the Director of the Center for Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer at Cleveland Clinic.
