It's never too early to start learning about hot flashes, even if you're only in your 20s and 30s. So today we're doing a crash course on hot flashes, perimenopause, and menopause.

Our guest for the course is Dr. Janet Carpenter. Over the past two decades, Dr. Carpenter’s research has focused on preventing breast cancer through identifying non-hormonal treatments for menopausal hot flashes. She created and tested ways of measuring hot flashes, created and tested theories to use in research, and has tested treatments for hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. She is currently funded to use the creative arts to teach the public scientific facts about menopause.

Dr. Janet Carpenter
Over the past two decades, Dr. Janet Carpenter’s research has focused on preventing breast cancer through identifying non-hormonal treatments for menopausal hot flashes. She created and tested ways of measuring hot flashes, created and tested theories to use in research, and has tested treatments for hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. She has extensive experience in scientific writing and grants reviews and is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of nurse scientists. She has received numerous honors and awards, including 2016 induction into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame and 2017 recognition as an Indiana Woman of Achievement. She is currently funded to use the creative arts to teach the public scientific facts about menopause.
