10-Step Approach to Prevent & Manage Diabetes
Type-2 Diabetes is a chronic condition caused by high levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood.  Type-2 diabetes is an international health crisis and is one of the most common non-contagious diseases. An estimated 366 million people had diabetes in 2011, and those numbers continue to rise.

Many people transition through a "pre-diabetes" stage, where blood glucose is elevated but is not high enough to be considered diabetes. Research proves that people with pre-diabetes can take steps to reduce their risk of developing diabetes. A healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise and stress management is the best defense against the disease.

It's no secret that proper nutrition is essential for preventing and managing diabetes, but balancing your diet is much easier said than done.  What exactly is a healthy diabetes diet?

Registered Dietitian, Barbara Allan, provides strategies for preventing and managing diabetes in an easy-to-follow 10-step program. She also shares recipes from her book, The The Diabetes Prevention & Management Cookbook,  which are specifically designed to help manage blood glucose, blood pressure and cholesterol, while supporting a healthy lifestyle.
