Sunny-AndersonSunny Anderson grew up with a love of food, cooking, and local cuisine. She spent her younger years traveling with her family around the world as an Army child, before joining the Air Force herself in 1993. It was around that time that Sunny began to experience what would later be diagnosed as ulcerative colitis. The early stage of diagnosis was when Sunny experienced the worst of her symptoms. Over the subsequent years, she has worked closely with her doctors to work through treatment plans before ultimately landing on an approach that worked best for her.

Today, Sunny has built an illustrious career as a Food Network host and celebrity cook. She has grown a following of fans who appreciate her style of combining classic comfort foods along with unique flavors inspired by her many travels. She currently serves as a host on the Food Network talk show The Kitchen and has also released her New York Times best-selling debut cookbook, Sunny’s Kitchen: Easy Food for Real Life.

She has also learned to manage her disease and is eager to share her experience and stories with others. She is enthusiastic about sharing her favorite recipes and encouraging people with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis to talk with their gastroenterologist about treatment options.
Managing Inflammatory Bowel Disease with Food Network Star Sunny Anderson
Food Network star and chef, Sunny Anderson, has lived with ulcerative colitis (UC) for 22 years.

UC is just one disease that falls into the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) category (Crohn's disease also is included).

It can be extremely debilitating and even deadly if not well controlled.

Sunny, along with IBD expert and gastroenterologist, Dr. Lindsey Albenberg, and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), have created the website, "Get Your Full Course," which serves up useful insights and resources to help you understand the paired role of nutrition and appropriate therapy in managing IBD.

Sunny joins Naturally Savvy host, Lisa Davis, to share more about the site as well as to encourage you to share it with your family and friends, and of course, start an open and honest conversation with your gastroenterologist.
