Does Surgery Increase the Risk of Cancer Spread?

The surgical removal of a tumor has been the cornerstone of treatment for most types of cancer.

The rationale for this approach is straightforward - if you can get rid of the cancer by removing it from the body, then a cure can likely be achieved.

Unfortunately, this approach does not take into account that following surgery, the cancer will frequently metastasize.
