James  Head shot"Big Game" James Worthy is an NCAA champ, 3-time NBA champ, MVP with the Los Angeles Lakers, philanthropist and a TV host and analyst for Time Warner Cable SportsNet.

A seven-time All-Star, Worthy was voted one of the top 50 NBA players of all time in 1996, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003. His jersey (#42) is only one of nine retired by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Off the court and out of the studio, Worthy is a motivational speaker and, through the James Worthy Foundation, a dedicated philanthropist. The James Worthy Foundation has an explicit purpose: to help at risk youth, military veterans, and their communities.
The causes of poverty have multiple roots involving individuals' health, families, communities, institutions, systems and cultures.

The James Worthy Foundation works with alliance and support organizations to carefully select programs for ensuring the nutritional needs of children living in poverty.

Specifically, the James Worthy Head Start program addresses the nutritional needs of children living below the poverty line.
