Losing weight can be a challenge, but what's probably most frustrating is getting stuck on those last five, 10, 20 pounds.

How can you jump start your body and finally lose that weight for good?

We know you can achieve drastic weight loss by turning to extreme diets and exercise programs. Sure you can. But the likelihood that you'll gain the weight back after such techniques is high.

Dr. Smith says that you can lose weight quickly -- and keep it off -- by eating healthy and exercising well.

And, you don't always have to eat perfectly. If you create the right balance and make important lifestyle changes, you can be successful.

So, what about exercise?

For maximal weight loss, you need to have an exercise program in combination with a great nutritional program. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a great way to burn fat better and longer. Dr. Smith recommends 27-45 minutes, 4-5 days a week for optimal results.

What if you plateau?

This is normal, and actually a good sign. You have lost weight. Your body is fighting against you losing weight. But you can address this by changing your regimen and routine of both exercise and nutrition.

For instance, Dr. Smith uses techniques like meal spacing, diet confusion and switching the types of food eaten and the frequency of food eaten.
