While breastfeeding her youngest daughter, Cary Goldberg discovered a lump in her breast. Thinking she could wait until her next wellness visit, Cary put off medical care.
Unfortunately, the cancer spread aggressively to nine of her lymph nodes.
Over the next five years, Cary would experience a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, biologic therapy, clinical trials, the removal of her ovaries and uterus, and daily hormone therapy that finally rendered her cancer free.
One of the valuable lessons Cary learned over this journey is that patients are their own best advocates. You don't have to necessarily accept the answer given you, and you shouldn't feel bad about being the "squeaky wheel."
Another positive outcome was that Cary learned about the bra company Handful from a neighbor and finally found the answer for her search for a bra that would work for her breastless body. Realizing that there were other modern, active, flat and fabulous survivors who might benefit from the Handful Bra, Cary enthusiastically went to work managing survivor relations.
Listen as Cary joins host Dr. Bond to share her story, as well as what sets Handful apart from other bra companies.
