Dr. Donald Edmondson, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. His research focuses on the potential for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. His research is particularly concerned with the adverse clinical outcomes associated with PTSD due to cardiovascular events, the biological and behavioral mechanisms by which PTSD influences those outcomes, and the ways that emergency department factors during treatment for cardiovascular events may influence risk for both PTSD and poor cardiovascular prognosis.
