Take Charge of Your Health: 4 Common Ailments and How to Prevent Them

The common cold is common for a reason. There are a few select ailments that affect almost all of us.

Dehydration can happen to anyone—and quite easily. If you aren’t drinking enough water, you are likely dehydrated on a regular basis. Since most of the body’s functions require water, if you don’t drink the recommended amount each day, you can end up with headaches, nausea, lightheadedness, and similar symptoms. Avoid dehydration by drinking water often. If you are busy during the day, this is something that can be easily forgotten. Use a tracking system on your phone or on paper to make sure you’re meeting your daily water needs.


Cavities are one of the most common ailments in the world. They are often a result of drinking or eating overly-sugary drinks and food. Similarly, when food is trapped in crevices in the teeth, this can turn into a cavity. If the cavity is left untreated, the patient may need a root canal.

Start de-stressing by meditating on a regular basis. The more you focus on being in the moment rather than being burdened by your worries, the less tense your body will be and the more your mind can relax.

If your headaches persist, be sure to visit a doctor. Depending on the cause of the headaches, they may be able to prescribe medication to alleviate your migraines.
