Guest Bio: Dr. Peter Paganussi, MD
Since July, 2009, Dr. Peter Paganussi has worked for Emergency Medicine Associates (Germantown, MD - 13 Emergency Department contracts in Maryland, Virginia, D.C. and West Virginia). Primarily based at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, VA, Dr. Paganussi holds clinical privileges at Inova Alexandria Hospital (VA), Sibley Memorial Hospital (DC), and Jefferson Memorial Hospital (WV) as well. He is currently Director of Patient Satisfaction - Virginia Sites for the company.

Dr. Paganussi has been practicing emergency medicine full-time since 1988. He is board certified by the American College of Emergency Physicians and holds fellowship (i.e., FACEP) in the college. He has served as Medical Director for Inova Emergency Care Center–Fairfax (1998-2005) and Inova Emergency Care Center-Reston (1989-1991), both free-standing, full service, emergency departments in the Inova Healthcare System. Under his medical direction, IECC-Fairfax was awarded a Press-Ganey Compass Award for Outstanding Patient Satisfaction in 2003. Dr. Paganussi has won numerous awards for patient satisfaction, medical writing and medical student education.


Along with his clinical duties, Dr. Paganussi also has served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians (VACEP - 2002-2012), was President of VACEP (2010-2011) and is Editor-In-Chief/columnist for the VACEP newsletter Epic. He has served as Chairman of the Inova Healthcare System Institutional Review Board from 1995-2008. He also served as Director of Medical Affairs for SRS International Corp. LLC, a private contract research organization with an extensive background in clinical research and clinical research trials.
