A recently published study in the Annals of Emergency Medicine took a close look at the special needs of transgender patients.
The results may shock you.
While approximately one-third of transgender patients needed emergency care in the previous year, only 71 percent of those with self-reported need indicated they were able to obtain care.
In fact, many patients deferred care until they were desperate and needed to go to the ER.
