Cosmetic procedures have come a long way, especially in the last few years. These days, there are many non-invasive techniques available.
The two most common non-surgical procedures performed in a cosmetic practice today are Botox and fillers. They are two very different treatments. Botox is a treatment of the muscle, while fillers treat wrinkles.
Botox is made from bacteria, similar to Penicillin, and is injected into the muscle. This causes the muscle to relax, resulting in significant softening of lines and wrinkles.
Cosmetic fillers, often made from Hyaluronic Acid (a natural substance found in your joints), add volume and plump up the cheek area, dramatically reducing wrinkles.
Both can be safe if used correctly.
Double board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Jeannie Chung, gives you the lowdown on Botox and fillers and how they can help you maintain a natural, youthful look.
