Meningitis: Campus Outbreaks on the Rise
Princeton University is experiencing a prolonged outbreak of serogroup B meningococcal disease, with eight cases reported.

The CDC, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Princeton University officials, and local health authorities have been working together since the first case of meningococcal disease associated with Princeton University was reported in March 2013.

The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), is experiencing an outbreak of serogroup B meningococcal disease, with four confirmed cases reported during November 2013.

Why are we seeing more outbreaks of this preventable disease? Are parents not vaccinating their children and making sure to get the booster before college?

Special guest, Dr. David Hill, explains the meningitis vaccine and why it is imperative that parents double check that all their kids' vaccines are up to date.
