Are Your Medications Sabotaging Your Health?
Are your over-the-counter and prescription medications depleting you of key nutrients? The answer is yes.

On this edition of "Healthy Steps with Dr. Ginger," she dives into the scary reality that many common medications may be actually depleting your body of essential nutrients.

Statins (cholesterol medications) are especially bad. CoQ10 is a key nutrient for cellular respiration. Statin drugs deplete this nutrient from your body, which often results in muscle fatigue and pain over time.

Anti-inflammatory drugs can be depleting your body of essential nutrients such as selenium, zinc, magnesium.

And, while it's been touted as beneficial for heart health, taking an aspirin a day can actually deplete your body of vitamin C.

It always comes back to your diet.

Chances are the reason a drug is needed in the first place is due to your diet. Eating a clean, healthy diet diverse in nutrients can usually stave off the condition in the first place. However, if these medications are required, nutrients can be replaced and may eventually allow you to ween off the medication.
