Your toddler may have a heady sense of freedom the first few nights after transferring permanently to a bed.
Luckily, most children are happy to "graduate" and stay in their beds... oftentimes more willingly than they did in their cribs.
For a few, however, the transition has to be managed closely.
Keep in mind, your child is advancing from infancy toward and into the preschool years. During this time, his physical growth and motor development will slow, but you can expect to see some tremendous intellectual, social, and emotional changes. Moving into his own room or big kid bed may be a big part of those changes.
