March Against Monsanto: Join the Effort to Banish GMOs
GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, have gotten a lot of attention recently.

In fact there is a worldwide effort called the "March Against Monsanto," a global call to action to inform the public what GMOs are and calling into question their negative health effects.

What exactly are GMOs?

Basically, creating a genetically modified organism involves taking things not naturally found in nature and crossing them with other elements. One key example is Monsanto's Round-Up Ready Soybeans. Some experts refer to these organisms as "Franken Foods."

What's alarming is that no studies have been done on the long-term effects. And now, it's estimated that certain cancers and other nervous system issues may be related to GMO intake.

What can you do to avoid being a GMO statistic?

First and foremost: be educated... you'll not only protect yourself, but you'll protect your loved ones as well. Also, don't be swayed by the marketing tricks of the Food Industry. They are skilled at making you think you're eating healthy when the opposite is true.

Where can you find non-GMO foods?

There are options at health food stores and natural product stores, and some conventional stores are also making strides. Even Wal-Mart has taken on an organic line of foods.

Join Dr. Ginger in this edition of "Healthy Steps with Dr. Ginger" to learn more about the dangers of GMOs, She also discusses which foods made the most updated "dirty dozen" list.
