Even if you enjoy the summer months, your skin and hair don't always like the heat and humidity that accompany the season.
Your skin tends to break out more in the summer, because it's dealing with so many elements... ranging from the harsh rays of the sun and high humidity to sweat, oils, chlorine and salt water.
So, what can you do to combat these elements?
First, it's important to recognize that your face deserves its own routine; you can't lump it in to general skin care.
Second, washing your face is so essential, as is taking your make-up off before you go to bed. Skipping these steps can be the biggest mistake you can make.
Adding a toner can also be helpful. Just make sure to choose one without alcohol or harsh chemicals.
Not only does this help keep your skin free of blemishes, but a deep clean also allows your moisturizer to be more effective.
There are some differences in expert opinion on whether you should you wash morning and night, or if you should you leave your skin "as is" in the morning to take advantage of the natural oils produced overnight.
There is no real definitive answer. It really depends on your particular skin type. If you have especially oily skin, you may want to perform a light wash and apply a toner in the morning. If you have normal skin, you may be able to get away without washing your face in the morning.
What about your hair? Do you suffer from frizz or wilting?
It's difficult to combat these problems completely; but if you can get away with a bit more "natural" look, summer is a great time to take advantage of that. It's not a bad idea to give your hair a rest from all the styling products you use on a daily basis.
