Dr. Julie Silver, an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, is a noted expert in physical medicine and rehabilitation (physiatry). Dr. Silver is the Chief Editor of Books at Harvard Health Publications, the consumer health branch of Harvard Medical School, and is on the medical staff at Massachusetts General, Brigham and Womens, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been a member of the medical staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where she worked in the Lance Armstrong Foundation Survivorship Clinic and is the co-founder of Oncology Rehab Partners, an innovative healthcare company breaking new ground in the field of cancer care.

Dr. Silver is also a cancer survivor who took her own journey through the "healing zone," perfecting her healing techniques as she worked to speed her own recovery. Following her acute treatment for cancer when she was in her thirties, she realized there was a large gap in helping survivors of numerous diseases to heal after treatment and devoted her career to helping others heal. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the most prestigious honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society, The Lane Adams Quality of Life Award.A widely recognized resource, Dr. Silver has been featured in Parade Magazine, NPR, "The Today Show," "The Early Show," USA Today, The Boston Globe, Newsweek and numerous other media outlets. She is also a regular blogger on AOL and Livestrong.com. She is the author and editor of over a dozen books, including a number of medical textbooks and the books, What Helped Get Me Through; After Cancer Treatment: Heal Faster, Better, Stronger; Chronic Pain and the Family; Understanding Fitness; and Life After Stroke. Dr. Silver is a frequent speaker.She has three children, who are the award-winning authors of Our Mom Is Getting Better and Our Dad Is Getting Better, published by the American Cancer Society.
