Your mouth is the very first part of your digestive system and can give you great clues as to what is happening in terms of your whole-body health.
According to holistic dentist, Dr. Victor Zeines, your tongue is very responsive to changes in the body.
For instance, if you've ever looked in the mirror and seen a colored coating covering your tongue, that could be an indication of a larger problem.
A white coating might mean that you're suffering from a cold or the flu, or appear as a result of a detox (because toxins are coming out). A white tongue could also indicate adrenal insufficiency or circulation problems.
A green coating might mean gall bladder and/or liver issue. A grey coating might mean stomach or GI problems. A cracked tongue may be indicative of a vitamin deficiency. And, if the tip of your tongue is red, that could indicate heart or thyroid problems.
These colorations don't appear overnight, but the thicker the coating, the more chronic the condition.
