Sandy Fasano1Sandy Fasano has been a certified ophthalmic assistant with Delaware Ophthalmology Consultants for the past 25 years.  She currently is in charge of the Laser Vision Correction department and is the Lasik surgical assistant to Dr. Barrett. With her many years of experience, Sandy wears many hats for the organization and enjoys helping to improve patients’ vision.
    Evolving Role of the Ophthalmic Technician
    Ophthalmology technologists work with ophthalmologists, who are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnoses and treatment of eye diseases and disorders.

    Ophthalmology technologists work in a number of capacities, including assisting during eye surgery and setting up and performing maintenance on equipment.

    In addition, ophthalmology technologists often perform diagnostic testing, such as measuring a patient's vision.
