Dr. Russ Karen LHommeDieuDr. Russ L’HommeDieu is a doctor of physical therapy, an American College of Sports Medicine Wellcoach® and a weight loss expert who has, himself, lost and maintained a 200 pound weight loss for over 10 years. He is the founder of an online weight loss program and support community called Lose Weight for Good where one of his favorite mantras is “If you want a smaller body, then you need to grow a bigger life.” Now, with his wife Karen, he is working on a new program called, I Love You to Health that helps people in “mixed weight” relationships where weight and health is a real issue and, in some cases, actually threatens the relationship itself.

Whose Weight Causes More Relationship Problems: Hers or His?
Have you ever been in a relationship where one of you was not a healthy weight? Addressing health issues related to eating, exercise and weight is challenging. Health concerns for one partner can cause tension when going out, making it tougher to maintain the relationship.

A mixed weight couple is one that has partners of inequal weight. Overweight women and fit men tend to have the greatest tension in a couple, particularly at meal time. Women may have a higher emotional cost to being overweight.

The problem comes down to common life goals. Do you want the same things? Do you have similar activity levels? Do you have similar meal ideas?

Listen in as Dr. Russ L'HommeDieu discusses mixed weight couples.
