Last year, Americans spent 3 trillion dollars on healthcare, with the majority of this investment for chronic conditions that can be addressed or even reversed with diet and lifestyle habits.
One physician, Saray Stancic, MD, is advocating for changes in the way we operate in the healthcare sphere.
Upon being diagnosed with MS at a fairly early age, and exploring the traditional treatment methods for the disease, it eventually became quite clear to Dr. Stancic that lifestyle and diet factors were critically important in her own condition, as well as multiple other chronic issues. She began to exercise, even though it was advised not to at that time, and changed her eating habits to a primarily plant-based diet.
Through these efforts, she was able to arrest her symptoms and has lived a good life.
Listen in as Dr. Stancic joins Dr. Friedman to discuss what lifestyle medicine is, how significant of a difference it can make in many medical conditions, and ways you can take charge of your own health by employing this approach.
She also shares information from her feature-length documentary film, Code Blue, which reveals insufficiency in the current state of medicine and provides a common sense solution by featuring the practice of lifestyle medicine to prevent, treat, and manage disease.
