Natural and Safe Sugar Alternatives
Limiting sugar in your diet is more important than ever.

Research has shown how damaging sugar is to the body -- not just in terms of weight gain, but also because of its inflammatory properties, diabetic influence, and the changes it can even make in the brain.

But, everyone likes to have a little something "sweet" now and again. Synthetic artificial sweeteners produce their own dangerous side effects. Are there safe sugar substitutes?

David Rosenberg, Food Category Manager at NOW Foods, explains that monk fruit is one of the best sugar substitutes on the market. Using it in baked goods and things like smoothies, plain yogurt, and coffee or tea is a great way to get a little sweetness with none of the calories. Plus, it's completely natural -- no artificial ingredients.

David joins Andrea and Lisa to discuss the dangers of sugar, which sugar substitutes are safe (and unsafe), and how you can use monk fruit to satisfy your sweet tooth.
