Valter Longo, PhD, has thirty years of experience in the field of longevity and healthy eating, and is one of the world’s experts in the field following in the footsteps of his mentor and head Roy Walford, pioneer of studies concerning healthy longevity.

Dr. Longo is a Professor of Gerontology and Biological Sciences and Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California - Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, Los Angeles, one of the leading centers for research on aging and age-related disease. He is also the Director of the Longevity and Cancer Program at the IFOM Institute of Molecular Oncology in Milan, Italy, and the Founder and President of the Create Cures Foundation based in Los Angeles (USA) and Milan (Italy).

He has received numerous awards for his work: the 2010 Nathan Shock Lecture Award from the National Institute on Aging (NIA/NIH), the 2013 Vincent Cristofalo “Rising Star” Award in Aging Research from the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR), and the 2016 Glenn Award for research on aging.

Based on the discovery of both genes and dietary interventions able to regulate aging and prevent diseases, in 2018 he was named by Time Magazine one of the 50 most influential people in healthcare.

With the profits from his books, including the international best seller The Longevity Diet, he has established the Create Cures Foundation in the United States and the Valter Longo Foundation in Italy.
