Dr. Rita Colwell is a Distinguished University Professor both at the University of Maryland at College Park and at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
She was the 11th director of the National Science Foundation, authored or co-authored 17 books and over 800 scientific publications, and has been awarded 55 honorary degrees from institutions of higher education. And these are just a few of the many accolades and honors Dr. Colwell has amassed in her long career.
