Natural Desiccated Thyroid: An Alternative Hypothyroidism Treatment

Hypothyroidism occurs when the activity of your thyroid gland is abnormally low. This can lead to multiple symptoms that can interfere with your everyday life.

Your thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that is located in the front of your neck. It is in charge of regulating essential hormones throughout your body.

Hypothyroidism symptoms, like fatigue, depression, impaired memory and increased sensitivity to the cold, can be hard to diagnosis since they can mimic a variety of other disorders.

What about reverse T3?

Reverse T3 is a type of T3 hormone that is produced in your body during periods of stress and blocks your active T3 from producing. You can ask for blood tests to check on your RT3 levels and get properly treated if they are out of whack.

One medication that is generally used to help hypothyroidism and RT3 is Synthroid (levothyroxine sodium), which is a synthetic hormone-like bio-equivalent to the natural hormone thyroxine. This medication has dominated the market for decades with countless side effects.

Now, the natural approach to hypothyroidism is finally getting a chance to show its worth.

One alternative treatment that has been around since 1800s and used heavily in Western medicine is Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT).

NDT is a common alternative hypothyroidism treatment derived from the dried thyroid glands of animals. NDT contains both T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine), calcitonin, and other origins that your thyroid should normally produce.

What else do you need to know about alternative hypothyroidism treatments?

Dr. Kenneth N. Woliner shares what hypothyroidism and RT3 are, what treatment options have been used, and the alternative medicine that has been used for thousands of years.
