Treating Thyroid Disorders with Hormone Therapy
Thyroid hormones, produced by the thyroid gland, are primarily responsible for regulation of metabolism.

Thyroid hormone replacement is beneficial if you are suffering from thyroid-related conditions. Thyroid hormone therapy is generally used when a person's thyroid is not producing enough thyroid hormone naturally (hypothyroidism). Treatment is prescribed to replace the function of the thyroid gland, or to prevent thyroid cancer from progressing or reoccurring.

If you have several symptoms of low thyroid function, you may benefit from thyroid hormone replacement... even if your lab tests are within the "normal" range.

Thyroid hormone replacement is very effective in the vast majority of cases, although some doctors have expressed concerns about taking hormones for long periods of time.

Hormone expert, Dr. Tammy Post (Dr. Tammy), DO, shares the simple factors that may influence the effectiveness of the hormones, as well as the proper dosage, risks and side effects of thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
