What to Keep in a First Aid Kit
You may think an accident that requires immediate care will never happen to you.

Unfortunately, at some point in your life, you are likely going to either receive or administer basic first aid.

Whether you're in your car going camping, flying across the country for a business trip or just at home in your backyard enjoying the weather, it's important to have a first aid kit handy.

One important thing to ask when preparing a kit is whom it will be servicing. Do you have children, pets and other family members?

It's also crucial to include a list of medicine that you, your spouse or children might be taking at the time. If a worst-case scenario ends up happening and paramedics need to be called, you want to make sure those medications won't clash with anything the first responders might administer.

Remember, anything from minor scrapes to allergic reactions and deep lacerations can often be addressed by even a basic first aid kit. Adding items such as bandages, tweezers, a pain reliever, medications (allergy medicine, inhalers, etc.) and some type of cleaning agent are essentials for your first aid kit.

Then the next step in preparing your first aid kit is distinguishing where you will be traveling and the environment in which you'll be. That way you can add other necessities you wouldn't usually need.

Dr. Angelique Campen shares the importance of having a first aid kit handy, as well as the crucial items you should include within your kit.
