Alzheimer's & Dementia: Prevention, Treatment & Misdiagnosis
Approximately 10 million Americans suffer from dementia, of which 5 million have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

But guess what? Of those 5 million, only 2.5 million actually have the disease.

In fact, 30-50 percent of those diagnosed with Alzheimer's receive a misdiagnosis, which has been proven by autopsy reports.

Are there ways to prevent dementia?

Awareness is key. Make sure you pay attention to your blood work. People with an under-active thyroid are at risk, as are those who are low in testosterone and low in folic acid.

One of the best things you do is to consume curcumin. Omega-3s are also essential.

In terms of your brain, the phrase "use it or lose it" is right on. You must constantly challenge your brain in order to ward off the effects of dementia.

Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, joins Andrea and Lisa to share more information about dementia and Alzheimer's, as well as ways to prevent (and treat) disorders of the mind.

He also discusses elements of his recent study, the M.I.N.D. Protocol.
