Carol Alt: Are You Getting Healthy Rest?
Just because you sleep at night, doesn't mean you're fully rested.

The hectic nature of our society and constant need to go-go-go can leave you feeling drained and exhausted. Not only that, but certain "side effects" to fatigue, such as forgetfulness and making silly mistakes, can start to impact your work and life.

Having recently finished her book tour, Carol Alt found herself in that very position. Exhausted from weeks of traveling and interviews, she decided it was time to get away and recharge. By doing this, both her body and her brain were able to relax and rejuvenate.

Carol also learned that "sometimes, taking a step back helps you make those two steps forward."

While she was able to take an actual vacation, many individuals today don't have that ability. The good news is you don't have to take a week off. Take a morning and go to the park or the beach and just soak up the sun and fresh air. You You don't have to spend money to relax.

Another tactic is to "turn off" from technology. Gadgets like smartphones, computers and tablets were designed to make things more convenient. But, the truth is they've enslaved us into being available 24/7. Try to shut those devices off and walk away... your emails and text messages will be there when you return.

Remember, fatigue can impact anyone; whether you're a doctor, lawyer, media personality or stay-at-home mom. It ages you and destroys your health, so the sooner you get it under control, the happier and healthier you'll be.

Listen in as Carol joins host Andrea Donsky to share more about why rest is so important, as well as simple things you can do to recharge.
