How Toxic Is Your Water?
For many kids, summertime means plenty of water activities, including running through the sprinklers on a hot, steamy day.

But did you know that conventional garden hoses can contain a variety of toxic ingredients?

These chemicals include things like BPA, phthalates, and even lead. In fact, a recent analysis found that 1/3 of conventional hoses have more lead than what is acceptable.

Then, of course, there's the fungi and bacteria that can grow inside the hose due to sitting water that's left in it.

Fortunately, there are other options that make these hoses totally safe. One brand, Clear Flow, was designed so it empties all the water out of the hose, and if any residual water is left, the UV rays from the sun kill the fungi and bacteria.

Listen in as Naturally Savvy hosts, Andrea Donsky and Lisa Davis, discuss the dangers lurking in your garden hose, as well as the importance of water filters, which take out harmful chlorine and other chemicals.
