Plastic: Bad for the Planet, Bad for the Body
You may be coming to realize how damaging plastic can be to your health.

The problem is that plastic is ubiquitous in our society; everything comes in plastic.

The chemicals that are used to make and soften plastic materials are "off-gassed" into the environment and absorbed through your skin and inhaled into your lungs.

This can cause hormone issues, fertility problems; some chemicals have even been linked to cancer.

Not only is your health compromised with direct contact to plastic, but there are environmental concerns surrounding plastics as well.

Because plastic particles and chemicals can end up in the oceans and other water supplies, the food chain is impacted, particularly fish.

What are ways you can avoid these damaging chemicals?

Try to not use plastic as much as possible. Stainless steel, glass and ceramic are all great alternatives. And, use reusable cloth bags instead of plastic ones.

Dr. Christopher Hobbs, author of Herbal Remedies for Dummies and Women’s Herbs, Women’s Health, joins Dr. Susanne to discuss the dangers of plastics, both for your health and the environment, as well as explain the concept of bio-magnification.
