On this segment of Wellness for Life Radio, Dr. Hobbs joins Dr. Susanne to discuss his top herb recommendations for women's health.

Dr. Hobbs's Top 3:

Vitex (also known as chasteberry). Regulates hormones, increases progesterone levels and protects the body against reproductive cancers. Helps with cramping and mood swings during a woman's menstrual cycle and provides for much smoother periods. Chasteberry has been used for over 2,000 years. The herb also helps to ease menopausal symptoms and make the transition to post-menopause much smoother.

Black cohosh. Reduces hot flashes, reduces resorption of bone after estrogen levels drop, and decreases inflammation and the possibility of arthritis.

Genistein. Compound that occurs naturally in seeds and plants, it's found in soy, black beans and other beans. Reduces bone resorption, eases hot flashes and balances hormones. Protects against the damaging effects of xenoestrogens.
