Veggies with Breakfast: Setting the Stage for Your Day
Veggies with breakfast has come a long way since including spinach in your omelet or "hiding" veggies in your morning smoothie.

Why is eating veggies in the morning so important?

Ashley Koff, RD, says that when you sleep, your body is attempting to do all of its clean-up, recovery, repair... like having a cleaning person come into your "internal home" and put things back together.

But, in today's society, not all of that work is getting done by morning. On top of that, most traditional breakfast options (heavy carbohydrates, coffee, sugar, etc.) do even more damage.

Veggies are your body's personal clean-up team.

Eating veggies at breakfast helps combat that damage and ensure that all the unfinished business of the previous night's repair gets completed. And, starting your day with vegetables creates a great base for when your day doesn't go as planned; for instance, if you forgot that amazing salad you made at home in the refrigerator or you don't have time to go out for a good lunch.

Remember, says Koff, vegetables don't have to be salty or savory; they can be sweet as well, which makes them a bit more palatable in the morning.

Listen in as Koff shares more about why eating veggies with breakfast is so essential, as well as her take on cold-pressed juices and their benefits.
