2015.Farrell Nancy 1888Nancy Farrell is the owner of a medical nutrition therapy practice; an adjunct professor at Germanna Community College; and provides nutrition services to the Rappahannock Community Services Board. Farrell has a wide range of experience in state government, community health and the food industry. In 2005, as a school health services dietitian she built a wellness program that the Washington Post described as “possibly among the best in the region.”

Active in public policy, Farrell worked as nutrition advisor to former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine’s Health Reform Commission workgroup; and has been appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe to serve on his nutrition council. Farrell also is a member of U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman’s Health Advisory Council.

She has long been active in the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics serving as media representative and State Public Policy Representative. In March 2014, as one of four dietitians in the country, she received the Academy’s national “Nutrition Hero” award for her professional service with eating disorder patients. She serves as the 2016 Chair for ANDPAC.

Farrell graduated from the University of Illinois and received a master’s degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
