Guest Bio: Philip Rizzuto, MD
Philip-RizzutoPhilip Rizzuto, MD, FACS, currently serves as the American Academy of Ophthalmology's secretary for communications and is the chief medical editor of the online journal, Academy Express. He previously served as chairman of the patient education committee, served as a member of the secretariat for state affairs, is a past member of the Council (representing Rhode Island) and served as the president of the Rhode Island Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He is a past member of the EyeNet editorial advisory board, as well as the Committee for State Organizational Development, and participated in one of the earliest Academy Leadership Development Programs.

A native New Yorker, Dr. Rizzuto is in private practice specializing in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery in Providence, RI. He is an associate clinical professor of surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the director of the oculoplastic service at the VA medical center in Providence. Dr. Rizzuto received his undergraduate degree from the University at Albany and his medical degree from the University at Buffalo. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and his oculoplastic fellowship at the Kresge Eye Institute in Michigan.
