Addiction & Foster Care: Helping Families Heal
Last year, almost a half a million children in the United States went through the foster care system, and most didn’t return to their families.

In many cases, it’s not just foster children who are suffering. Birth parents and biological families also struggle, and they often are battling drug and alcohol addiction.

Dr. John DeGarmo is one of the country’s leading experts on foster care.

A foster parent for over 13 years and a trainer of foster parents around the country, Dr. DeGarmo is focused on helping both children and their biological families heal.

He shares his experience and explains how treating everyone in the foster care system -- from children to biological parents and caseworkers -- with dignity, respect, and kindness holds the key to healing for us all.
