Advancements in Veterinary Ophthalmology
Should pets and other animals have regular eye exams?

Many medical ophthalmologists have been interested in studying the eyes of other creatures. Instrumentation, technique, and curiosity are just a few of the reasons for that interest.

Veterinary ophthalmology first began with doctors looking at the eyes of animals who had died to try to determine the cause, particularly in horses, which provided a variety of valuable services in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

From there, tests and treatments improved to where we are today.

Listen in as Dr. Abel discusses the advancement of veterinary ophthalmology.
