The Myths of Chiropractic Care
It seems everyone has an opinion about chiropractic care... either you think it's really great, or you think it's not really helpful at all.

Regardless of your specific opinion, there are some big myths out there about chiropractic care and chiropractors themselves.

In this segment, Dr. Jessica Allison joins Andrea and Lisa to bust some of those myths, and explain the many benefits of chiropractic.

Myths of Chiropractic Care

Myth #1: Chiropractors are not "real" doctors.

This is simply not true. Due to their level of education and scope of practice, chiropractors truly are doctors. In fact, they are one of five medical professionals who are given the "doctor" title.

Chiropractors must complete an undergraduate degree plus attend another four years at an accredited college.

Myth #2: Chiropractic is only effective for back pain.

Back pain is not the only condition chiropractors treat. They are trained to treat all joints of the human body.

Back pain (which affects 80 percent of population) is probably the most common ailment, but neck pain, headaches, tendonitis, tennis elbow, osteoarthritis, ligament strains and sprains, and jaw pain also all benefit from chiropractic care.

Myth #3: There is no real "science" behind chiropractic care.

There is actually tons of promising work coming out of colleges and universities. Many Doctors of Chiropractic (DC) also now have PhDs.

What has been found in the research is that chiropractic is really effective at reducing pain by working on the nervous system, as well as for boosting brain function and overall well being. In fact, many people indicate that chiropractic care is more favorable than pharmaceutical options.
