Summary: How to stop overeating and binge eating with Dr. Glenn Livingston.
Air Date: 5/25/17
Duration: 26:26
Host: Bill Klaproth
Guest Bio: Glenn Livingston, PhD
Dr. Glenn LivingstonGlenn Livingston, PhD, is a veteran psychologist and was the long-time CEO of a multi-million dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry.

You may have seen his (or his company's) previous work, theories, and research in major periodicals like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun Times, Indiana Star Ledger, NY Daily News, American Demographics, or any of the other major media outlets you see on this page.  You may also have heard him on ABC, WGN, and/or CBS radio, or UPN TV.

Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants.

Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more lighthearted relationship with food.

High Five Highlights:

  • What made you want to write this book? I was an exercise bulimic and couldn’t stop thinking about food that came in a box or container. I did it to save my life.
  • Looking back, what advice would you give your younger self? You don’t have to spend years in groups doing a moral inventory. You just need to define a really clear plan for how you want to eat. Learn how to separate your mind into constructor and destructor parts and start to ignore the destructor part.
  • Do you have a favorite quote? “A life of discipline is a better than a life of regret.”
  • "Finish this sentence: “Throughout my life the most important thing I’ve learned is...” Invest in your health, education and passion for others.
