Chemical peels are one of the oldest cosmetic procedures to help improve skin. They can have almost immediate results with helping acne, fading acne scars, reducing sun spots and lessening hyper-pigmentation. These peels can also smooth uneven skin tone and texture, as well as improve the appearance of wrinkles. Light peels usually have little-to-no downtime, while deep peels require extensive healing time (but have longer-lasting results).
Some of the more common chemical peels include glycolic acid, lactic acid and TCA. The percentage and type that is right for you depends on your skin type, desired results and whether you have gotten chemical peels before.
