If you remember the television sets from years ago, you may remember the "white noise" that emanated from stations that had gone off the air.
It was annoying, and kept you from watching your favorite show.
This same concept can be applied to the white noise that affects your dreams and goals in daily life. It can come from outside sources, such as family members or friends who try to discourage you from following your path; OR, more likely, it comes from inside your own head.
That's when it becomes essential to replace the noise with positive messages and ask yourself these questions:
What's the real reason you can't do something?
What kind of insecurity is keeping you from moving forward?
You may come up with excuses like, "It's too hard," "The industry is too competitive," or "I'm simply too old."
But those are exactly as described: excuses.
Try this exercise instead: write down 10 people your age (or older) who are doing the thing you want to do. Chances are, it won't take you very much time to come up with at least 10.
What are some other effective techniques for blocking out the white noise in your life?
Author and life coach, Cornell Thomas, returns to Naturally Savvy to share how he overcomes the white noise in his life and how you can too.
