One-third of the United States population suffers from diabetes or pre-diabetes. Many people go undiagnosed. Getting your blood sugar under control is the best prevention.
Monitoring your biomarkers via testing leads to better outcomes. The blood glucose monitor was the standard for checking blood sugar through pin pricks a few times a day. This system is problematic, because it can be inconvenient, painful, and only provides information when blood is taken.
The Freestyle Libre offers real-time, continuous blood glucose monitoring. A small sensor is placed on the back of the upper arm for ten days. A reader is waved over a sensor for immediate readings, and it reports every fifteen minutes.
Those with type-1 and type-2 diabetes both benefit from this type of monitoring. Real-time numbers allow for real-time correction of conditions.
Listen as Cher Patore, MS, RDN, CDE, joins Dr. Susanne Bennett to share how the Freestyle Libre works.
